Citrus-Blossom Summer Fizz
A refreshing and floral gin fizz with citrus-scented sugar syrup, orange-flower water, and a hint of nutmeg.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon loosely packed fresh lemon verbena leaves (optional)
- 1 strip of orange peel
- 1 strip of lemon peel
- 1/4 teaspoon orange-flower water
- 3/4 cup ice
- 1 tablespoon gin
- 1 tablespoon whipping cream
- 1/2 large egg white
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
- Pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
- Fresh lemon verbena sprig (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and lemon verbena leaves. Add the orange and lemon peels using a vegetable peeler. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Let the syrup cool completely and stir in the orange-flower water.
- In a blender, combine 6 tablespoons of the syrup, 3 cups ice, 1/4 cup gin, 1/4 cup cream, 2 egg whites, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Blend until smooth and foamy.
- Pour the mixture into a glass and sprinkle with freshly ground nutmeg. Garnish with a sprig of fresh lemon verbena, if desired. Repeat for additional servings.
