Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 small seedless watermelon (or 1/2 of a large watermelon), cubed
- 1/4 cup watermelon juice
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 2 limes)
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 1.50 oz tequila
- 0.50 oz orange liqueur
Instructions
- Boil the water and sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved. Let it cool completely.
- Puree the cubed watermelon in a blender to make watermelon juice. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl.
- Rim the serving glass with salt or sugar, if desired, and fill with ice.
- In a shaker, add watermelon juice, lime juice, simple syrup, tequila, orange liqueur, and a pinch of salt. Shake well.
- Pour the mixture from the shaker into the prepared glass. If a shaker is not available, add the ingredients directly to the glass and stir well.
